This little guy is a part of the excellent Rage cover design by Alice Marwick. I call him Flamer, because, from even my earliest days reading USENET on green screen CRTs, that term in nerd slang has meant “a person who directs a vitriolic or abusive message at someone on the Internet or via email.”
I think he’s the symbol for Rage Inside the Machine.
